Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Against Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five TDs during the current campaign
New England matched their best victory streak since the Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the team in 2019
Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields scoring a five-yard TD to conclude the New York's opening drive
But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the endzone halfway into the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."
Fields connected with Metchie late in the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales kicked a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots closed out the triumph
